Healing

Does God really heal today?

Healing or coming to wholeness happens in many ways.  Through the love of another person , through the activities of the medical profession and often simply the body and mind recovering in their own time.

However we have relatively recently rediscovered the healing ministry of the Church that is clearly present in the New Testament.

As a result of what we see there and the belief that Jesus meat his Chucrh though the ages to demonstrate the presence and power of God – the Kingdom of God- in helaing people we pray for them to be healedd through the power of the Holy Spirit.

As a result we see people healed although not everyone is healed physically but all are helped in one way or another.

How are people prayed for?

We pray for people simply and inconspicuously.  At 10.30 during the communion service or at the end of all services we offer prayer in a little side chapel.  There is a small team of people who have been trained to pray definitely but sympathetically and these are available to pray with you.

We ask ‘what you would like Jesus to do for you?’  and then we simply pray that whatever issue has been raised that God would glorify his name by bringing healing –of the body, mind or spirit as is appropriate.  This generally takes only a few minutes although it may, at your request, continue longer.

Can I expect instant healing?

Instant healing does sometimes occur, and sometimes it occurs over a few days or weeks.  However we are often faced with the challenge that not all people are healed.

However when we prayed for no one, no-one was healed and when we prayed for anyone, some were healed.

Why are people not healed?

The short answer is we do not know.  For some reason it is not part of God’s will for the moment.  It is not connected with the fact that people who are prayed for do not have enough faith or that God does not love them or that they have committed some act that denies them the possibility of healing.  It seems to be part of the mystery of healing.  However it may be we continue to pray.

There are a couple of barriers to healing.  The first can perhaps be best described as anti-faith , that is not believing in God at all and His ability to heal.  The second occurs when people are seeking help or healing from non-Christian spiritual sources such as spiritualist healers or crystals or some other source.

Do you have  ‘Healers’ in the congregation?

The answer is ‘no’We believe that it is the risen Jesus Christ who heals by his Holy Spirit and anyone can ask him to heal another.

Do you pray for anyone, or just members of the Church?

We are delighted to pray for anyone.
