Arranging a Wedding
Legal Matters
You may be married at All Saints Mattishall if one of you:
> Normally lives in Mattishall, or
> Is on the church electoral roll (after attending church regularly for six months), or
> Was baptised in the church
> Was confirmed and the confirmation is entered in a register
> Has/had a parent or grandparent who was married in All Saints Mattishall or St Peters Mattishall Burgh, or
> Has/had a parent who had his or her usual place of residence in the Mattishall for at least 6 months during your lifetime, or
> Has/had a parent who habitually attended public worship at Church of England services in Mattishall for at least 6 months during your lifetime.
Procedure
Ring the Vicar to discuss dates. If you have been married before or are not a British Citizen, the Rector will arrange to see you before a wedding can be booked. The Vicar or church office will send you a Wedding Application Form. The Vicar may invite you to Wedding Preparation Sessions. Nearer the Wedding Date the Priest taking your wedding will arrange to see you for a Wedding interview to deal with the background to and details of the Service . Just before the Wedding date the Vicar taking your wedding will arrange for a Wedding Rehearsal.
Wedding Hymns
It is normal to choose two or three hymns and they need to be well known to family and friends who will attend the Wedding. You can choose to have the worship band to lead the musical aspect of the worship instead of the organ if you wish.
Good Hymns Include:
All things bright and beautiful
Give me oil in my lamp (Tune: Sing Hosanna)
He’s got the whole world in his hand
Lead us heavenly Father (Tune: Mannheim)
Lord of the dance
Lord, for the years, your love has kept and guided
Love divine, all loves excelling (several tunes)
Morning has broken (Tune: Bunessan)
Now thank we all our God (Tune: Nun Danket)
Praise, my soul, the King of Heaven (Tune: Praise my soul)
The Lord’s my Shepherd (Tune: Crimond)
And did those feet in ancient times (Tune: Jerusalem
