Worship Using Flags - Proclaiming God's Greatness
Psalm 20:5 We will shout for joy when you are victorious and will lift up our banners in the name of our God. May the Lord grant all your requests.
1 Chronicles chapter 15 gives a beautiful account of worship when King David brings the Ark of the Covenant back to Jerusalem. We lift a flag to say our God is King, He is in control and has given us the Victory through the blood of His Son Jesus Christ.
To worship with flags is an expression through movement and colour to our God for all He has done, is doing, and is still to do - we put our trust in Him.
Just think the Queen when she’s in residence at Buckingham Palace has a flag flying and it’s taken down when she’s not there. Our King isn’t going anywhere! He promised “and surely I am with you always to the very end of the age.”
We proclaim Him as our God, the great I AM knowing that His banner over us is love. Song of Solomon 2:4 He has taken me to the banquet hall, and his banner over me is love.
God revealed His Name Johovah-Nissi the Lord is my Banner after the Israelites defeated the Amalekites. When Moses arms were lifted to the Lord the Israelites advanced but when his arms dropped through tiredness the Amalekites recovered. As Moses’ arms were supported by Aaron and Hur until sunset then the Israelites saw victory. After this Moses built an altar.
Exodus 17:15-16 Moses built an altar and called it The Lord is my Banner. He said, For hands were lifted up to the throne of the Lord.
Sometimes worship is a battleground though our eyes don’t see ……
Ephesians 6:12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.
But we are more than equipped through Christ…….
Ephesians 1:3 [ Spiritual Blessings in Christ ] Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ.
Many of the flags were prayed over as they were made. Some of the flags belong to individuals and the colours and pictures on them have specific meanings. We encourage all ages to use flags and rely on parents to supervise their children with their use ( we have a variety of sizes).
